It started in March 2011 with a Singha and one simple rule: drink a beer from every country. It didn’t have to be the best beer or the rarest, just one honest bottle that says something about where it came from.

Fifteen years on, the rule has sprawled. Untappd says more than 5,700 unique beers. I’ve opened thousand-dollar bottles, and there’s a cellar of rare whales waiting for the right night. But that isn’t what this is about.

This is about scale and range. A North Korean pilsner from a friend who’d been there. A Mongolian dunkel, a Cook Islands lager, a blanche from Réunion. And the territories. Jersey, Guernsey, Martinique, Tahiti and Macau all count, because if a place brews its own beer, it gets its turn.

Every beer gets the same scorecard: packaging, refreshment, flavour, alcohol and price, ten points each. A cheap lager can outscore a fancy one. Some should never have been brewed. All of them count.
